JON SINTES

Jon Sintes is the original creator of #Cutternation As the story goes, the brand name was a gift that was given to him from his catcher his first season in the Pecos league. It stuck and has been the basis of his pitching philosophy ever since. Jon grew up in Fort Walton Beach, Florida learning the game mainly from his father and traveling around to different College and Pro baseball camps in Northwest Florida. Jon has played the game of baseball since he was 3 years old and pitching in High School, Junior College, and NCAA Division 2 and Pitched Professionally in Independent Professional Baseball, Mexican Minor Leagues, Mexican Minor league Winter Ball, Mexican Major Leagues, and Mexican Major League Winter Ball. In High School Jon received All State Pitching Honors for his 3 Varsity Letters at Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Un-recruited, Jon, in 2005, walked on to Pensacola Junior College, earned a scholarship and was redshirted his first year. His second year he pitched as situational reliever with 20 innings, 21 strikeouts, and a 2.11 ERA. The following season he accepted a scholarship to the University of West Florida (D2) in Pensacola.

 

2007: After a successful role as a starter he was named to the NCAA Division II All-South Central Region All-Tournament Team. He pitched a complete game while only allowing one run on five hits and six strikeouts against Delta State in the Division II Regional Tournament (5/19) leading the team to the semi-finals. His 85 strikeouts lead the team and was the seventh-highest single season total in team history. He started 14 games, which was tied for the third-highest single-season total. He earned his first Argonaut win after striking out 10 in a win over Stillman College (2/10)... Tossed eight shutout innings while striking out seven in a 1-0 win over Quincy (2/17)... Held North Georgia hitless over 7.1 innings while striking out eight (3/9)... Limited West Georgia to two runs on two hits with nine strikeouts against West Georgia (3/31)... Held Valdosta State to one run on three hits with seven strikeouts (4/28)... Struck out a season-high 11 over seven innings in the GSC Tournament win over West Alabama (5/6)... Only allowed two home runs in 89.2 innings pitched.

 

2008: Recorded a 2-5 record with a 6.38 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched... Appeared in 14 games, making 10 starts... Held opponents to a team low .267 batting average...Tossed a season-high nine inning complete game against Auburn-Montgomery (4/15) to earn a 6-4 win... Struck out a season-high eight batters in 5.1 innings at Florida Southern (2/8)... Limited Quincy to just one hit over seven innings while striking out seven (2/23)... Earned his first win of the season against Flagler College (2/16) in six innings, four strikeout performance while allowing just two runs... Held West Georgia scoreless in two innings of relief (3/29)...

 

2009: In a injury-shortened senior season he finished with a record of 5-2 with a 3.79 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched... Appeared in 11 games, starting nine of them... Held opponents to a .256 batting average... Pitched seven shutout innings in a 4-0 win over Florida Southern, allowing just three hits while striking out four (2/8)... Scattered five hits and struck out seven to pick up the win against Montevallo in a complete game 9-0 shutout over the Falcons (3/15)...Named GSC Pitcher of the Week (3/17), his second of his career... Struck out a season-high 10 batters in eight innings of work against West Georgia to earn the win (3/28)... Tossed eight and third innings while striking out eight to pick up the win in a 5-3 victory over GSC rival West Alabama (4/4)...

 

A massive traumatic elbow injury ended his senior year not preventing him from being drafted. After 6 months of attempted rehab by the doctors finally an MRI was approved and it showed an 85% avulsion fracture of the unla. Doctors proceeded with 2 surgeries in 3 years in order to recovery from the injury. 

 

Jon pitched in the Pecos Independent League for the White Sands Pup Fish and Sante Fe Fuego.

Jon returned to the Sante Fe Fuego the following year, for an All-Star Season and carrying the team to the playoffs.

 

Jon then signed with the Liga Norte De Mexico, the Langosteros de Rosarito, league affiliate of the Liga Mexicana de Mexico. Jon was named an all-star of the league and started the all-star game. He played for multiple teams the Langosteros de Rosarito and the Freseros de San Quintin. 

 

Following each regular season, Jon pitched in the minor league Winter Ball seasons for multiple years. Pitching for the Campesenos de Paso de Ojevas, Brujos, Chileros de Xalapa, Tobis de Acayucan. He also represented Team Mexico in the Latin American Baseball Classic, in Panama City Panama and the following year in Nicaragua.

 

Jon also pitched in the Mexican Major Leagues, Liga Mexicana de Mexico for the Olmecas de Tabasco and the Generelas de Durango.

 

Jon’s best season would happen when he is in the Major League Winterball, Liga Pacifica, Season with Los Mochis as he was named an all-star nomination and led the league in appearances as a closer and a starter and ERA as closer.
